Three Great Grilling Ideas For Vegetarians

Just because you follow a vegetarian diet does not mean that you cannot enjoy a great outdoor barbecue under a party tent or canopy this summer. In fact, with the right recipes on hand, you can enjoy some delicious grilled meals, and your meat-eating friends will be sure to indulge in them as well.

Continue reading to take a look at three great grilling ideas for both vegetarians and omnivores that will be the perfect addition to any outdoor party, no matter what the occasion is.

Grilled Tofu

Tofu is one of those versatile foods that you can do just about anything with. You can bake it, fry it, and even grill it. Purchase extra firm tofu to make sure it will hold its shape and consistency best while cooking on the grill. Then drain it completely of its water before prepping it for some delicious grilled entrees.

You can grill up strips of tofu to use in tacos and wraps, or grill up a good-sized piece of tofu that you can use over noodles. You can even substitute grilled tofu for grilled chicken in all of your favorite recipes off the grill. Remember, it takes on the flavor of the ingredients surrounding it, so you can definitely make everything you used to enjoy eating but substitute the meat for tofu for the same great flavors. And because tofu is high in protein and various nutrients, it will be sure to fill you up as well.

Grilled Eggplant

Eggplant is a vegetable that works perfectly on the grill. Peel a large eggplant, remove all of the seeds, and then slice it thin. You can even leave the skin on if you prefer, and you can choose to slice it lengthwise or widthwise, depending upon the shape that you are looking to get. Because this vegetable is thick and tough, it will withstand the grill, and you will get a nice set of grill marks on both sides.

After you have grilled the eggplant slices, you can add them to a sandwich with other vegetables, such as roasted peppers, tomatoes, and lettuce. Or you can even serve it over your favorite grain, such as quinoa. If you slice the eggplant into thick circles, you can even use it as a delicious substitute for burger patties.

Grilled Vegetables

Grilled vegetables taste great, and they are really healthy too. You can place your favorite vegetables on kabobs and grill them up quickly to enjoy right off the stick. Broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, cherry tomatoes, onions, and more can all be grilled up nicely.

You can also make a salad of grilled vegetables. Perfect options include mushrooms and zucchini, which are strong enough to withstand the heat from the grill while maintaining their shape.

When it comes to grilling, most people think that they can only serve meat. But if you get creative and you do your research into unique recipes, you can definitely enjoy a vegetarian meal right off the barbecue that is satisfying and full of flavor.
