Commonly Cuban bread recipes are similar to those of French bread and Italian bread, and usually they include a small amount of fat in the form of lard. This recipe does not. To make two loaves of this excellent bread you will need:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 4 cups white flour
- 2 tablespoons yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 cups hot water
Take all the wheat flour and a half of the white flour and mix them together. After that add the yeast, the sugar, and the salt. Pour in the hot water and beat with a mixer for 3 minutes. Then add another half of the white flour and keep stirring until it is no longer sticky. Knead it for 8 minutes and you will get the dough. Put it in metal bowl sprayed with cooking spray, cover with a damp towel, and just leave it for 15 minutes. As we have said above we are going to get two loaves. So, divide the dough into 2 pieces (you can make them any shape you like), and put them on a baking sheet into a cold oven with a pan of boiling water on the bottom shelf. Bake them for 40-50 minutes at 400 degrees.
